San Miguel is a small inland municipality north-west of Iloilo City, with a population of around 30,100 at the 2020 census. It belongs to the second congressional district alongside Pavia, Leganes and Santa Barbara, and to the Metro Iloilo–Guimaras area — close enough to the city to be part of its daily orbit while remaining largely rural in character.
